Great spot for a classy lunch or apertivo. The cacio e pepe and the hamburger dishes are the go-to recommendations. The coffee is solid also. This spot is also great to visit just after/before visiting the art exhibit next door.

Decent Italian food but service partially unfriendly when it came to a language barrier.

Nice bistrot right at the entrance of the main building, we got in right after our visit to the temporary exhibition for a quick lunch break. Friendly staff, nice menu with several interesting options: we went for a fried rice with stracciatella cheese topping (not on the menu, so it might be worth asking what the daily special is), and a tuna tartare with white/black rice and orange zest. Nicely presented and both delicate and good, we paid 36€ including water and 2 coffees. Good option to be paired with the visit to the hangar bicocca and not to starve on the way back to the city centre.

This bistrot shines as an ideal spot to enjoy a classy lunch or a relaxed apertivo, especially after exploring the nearby exhibitions. What stands out most about IUTA is its thoughtfully curated menu that caters to various tastes, including gluten-free options and innovative salads and bowls, showcasing freshness and originality. Highlights like the cacio e pepe demonstrate authentic Italian flavors done with a modern touch, while the hamburger offers a satisfying twist on comfort food. A standout discovery is the daily specials—such as the fried rice with a stracciatella topping or the delicate tuna tartare with white and black rice accented by orange zest—each dish revealing a harmonious blend of textures and subtle flavors.

The coffee here is equally commendable, delivering a solid finish to the meal, whether you are winding down after lunch or gearing up for an apertivo. While service might occasionally hesitate due to language barriers, the staff’s friendliness generally shines through, enhancing the overall experience.

Overall, IUTA Ristorante Bistrot serves as a culinary bridge between Milan’s vibrant contemporary art scene and refined Italian cuisine. It’s a destination worth seeking out for those who appreciate carefully crafted dishes, a thoughtful atmosphere, and an opportunity to savor Milanese culture both visually and on the palate.
